Then & Now!
We want to share the fascinating history of the Buffalo Bar with you. We're no strangers to many of you in the community; since 1995, we've proudly owned this beloved establishment. Back then, we acquired the Buffalo Bar from Margaret Wolf, who had been its owner for quite some time. Some of you might remember that Margaret's son, Al Wolf, managed the bar during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
It all began when Margaret considered closing the bar down. However, we recognized its value within Ludlow, where the patrons cherished their neighborhood gathering spot. We discovered that the roots of the Buffalo Bar go back to 1963, and if anyone knows its history before that, we'd love to hear from you.
Our journey as Buffalo Bar owners has been filled with joyous moments and cherished memories. We've welcomed outstanding employees and served a community of incredible patrons, creating a vibrant hub for live music, games, and camaraderie. And then, suddenly, COVID-19 struck, bringing unprecedented challenges. We faced mask requirements, tightened restrictions, and forced closure.
But we're fighters and refuse to let the Buffalo Bar fade away. We chose this as an opportunity to remodel and to make the Buffalo even more inviting. We're eager to reopen our doors soon. We're making adjustments, creating an inviting outdoor entertainment area where you can watch the game, play corn-hole, and/or listen to Live Music!
We've decided to transition to a non-smoking environment inside the bar while embracing our authentic "Dive Bar" spirit. Music and bands will grace the back area, sports will be on display, and games like pool and darts will keep the fun alive. Rest assured, even as we tastefully renovate the interior, we'll maintain the familiar comfort and character that defines the Buffalo Bar experience.
Though we're eager to reopen, we've faced delays, as many factors have influenced our progress. Despite the challenges, we're steadily moving forward.
The Buffalo Bar is also thrilled to become part of the vibrant Elm Street entertainment district in Ludlow. With neighbors like Ludlow Tavern, Bircus Brewery, Taste on Elm, and Second Sight Spirits Distillery, great things are happening here, and we invite you to stay tuned!
